Atlanta Falcons defensive end Za'Darius Smith suffered a concerning collision in the first quarter after being kneed in the head during a tackle. The incident occurred when Saints left tackle Asim Richards drove him to the ground, and teammate Brandon Dorlus' knee made contact with Smith’s helmet.
Though Falcons medical staff initially signaled for a cart, Smith declined and walked off under his own power, but he is now being evaluated for potential concussion and neck injuries. With 2.5 sacks already this season, Smith’s availability remains uncertain as the Falcons assess his condition.
Meanwhile, tight end Kyle Pitts—who leads the team in receiving yards—did not start the game and has logged just one snap in two series, despite being listed as healthy by the team. Charlie Woerner, Nick Muse, and Austin Hooper have filled in for Pitts in his absence.
