Ed Orgeron Walks With Cane for Nation’s No. 1 WR as Lane Kiffin Faces Big SEC Threat for 5-Star Texas Commit

Top-ranked 2027 wide receiver prospect Easton Royal remains pledged to Texas, though multiple Southeastern Conference programs are aggressively pursuing a potential flip. Louisiana State representatives recently attended a matchup at Strawberry Stadium in Hammond between Brother Martin and Edna Karr to evaluate the elite pass-catcher in person.

Among them was former Tigers leader Ed Orgeron, who continues his physical rehabilitation following an eighteen-day hospitalization for sepsis in August. Using assistive mobility equipment and compression garments, the sixty-five-year-old joined wide receivers coach George McDonald on the recruiting trail.

McDonald previously spent two seasons serving under Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss prior to his arrival in Baton Rouge. Meanwhile, Florida has also emerged as a significant threat in the recruitment after hosting the blue-chip talent during a dominant victory over Ole Miss.
