The Philadelphia Eagles have activated two practice-squad players ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the Washington Commanders, adding depth to a backfield and edge-rusher group already dealing with injuries. Running back Elijah Mitchell was elevated for a second time this season, joining Saquon Barkley—who played through hamstring and back issues in Week 7—and Jaydon Blue as the team’s three active backs.
Mitchell could also contribute as a kick returner, given Britan Covey’s absence. Meanwhile, edge-rusher Mason Reiger, acquired in August, will make his Eagles debut, though his role is expected to be limited on defense and primarily focused on special teams.
The moves come as the Eagles navigate a roster short on healthy options, with tight end Zach Ertz remaining on the practice squad after exhausting his three temporary elevations and Dallas Goedert leading the group at the position for now.
