The Philadelphia Eagles slipped to a two and one record following a disappointing defeat against the Chicago Bears during a recent Monday Night Football matchup. Rookie Makai Lemon received a C-minus grade for his performance, despite seeing his offensive output climb each week culminating in twenty-nine yards during the latest contest.
While Lemon recorded a couple of downfield catches where he generated yards after contact, offensive coordinator Sean Mannion continued deploying him on unsuccessful screen plays that routinely ended up behind the line of scrimmage. Over the course of the season, Lemon has accumulated seven receptions totaling thirty-eight yards, though three separate screen attempts have resulted in a combined loss of eleven yards.
Beyond the struggles of the rookie receiver, analysts raised concerns about several other roster spots following the flat showing in Chicago. Cam Jurgens struggled significantly after sliding over to left guard, prompting questions about potential physical limitations or whether backups like Willie Lampkin might see increased action.
The offense is also feeling the absence of injured tight end Dallas Goedert while veterans such as Zach Ertz, E.J. Jenkins, and Johnny Mundt have failed to provide the necessary blocking and receiving impact.
The team will be looking for rookie Eli Stowers to spark immediate improvements upon returning from injured reserve.
