Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 season after further medical testing revealed multiple blood clots in his lungs, complicating his initial diagnosis of a deep vein thrombosis in his leg. The team confirmed Hurts, who was already on Injured Reserve, will undergo treatment with blood thinners and avoid all physical contact, including football, while remaining with the Eagles organization.
His prognosis is described as positive, with no anticipated long-term effects, though his season is effectively over as he focuses on recovery. The setback follows a challenging stretch for the Eagles, who have lost four consecutive games since starting 2-0, including a 25-14 defeat to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, where rookie quarterback Tanner McKee stepped in for Hurts and threw for 215 yards and a touchdown in his first career start.
Meanwhile, the Eagles have struggled with injuries beyond Hurts, with running backs Saquon Barkley and Will Shipley also sidelined, and multiple other players listed as questionable or out for the week.
