The Los Angeles Dodgers opened their National Division Series matchup with a five-to-three victory over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday afternoon, providing winning pitcher Tarik Skubal plenty of run support. After Dylan Dodd pitched three scoreless frames for Atlanta, Los Angeles broke through in the fourth when Teoscar Hernandez launched a 431-foot, two-run home run following a walk drawn by Freddie Freeman.
The hosts then sealed the outcome during the sixth inning by feasting on Atlanta relief pitching, getting a two-run shot from Kyle Tucker and a solo blast from Max Muncy, whose 17th career postseason home run extended his franchise record. Manager Dave Roberts had previously noted the importance of wearing down starting pitchers to reach the bullpen.
