Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing is set to have elbow surgery on Wednesday to repair a partial ulnar collateral ligament tear. The procedure will be a hybrid internal brace repair, which the team expects will allow him to return to full‑time catching in about nine months, though he could resume hitting earlier.
Rushing, who stepped into a larger role after Will Smith’s neck injury, logged 245 plate appearances by Aug. 1 and posted an .809 OPS. After aggravating the injury in early August, he made brief pinch‑hitting appearances in September but went hitless in seven at‑bats before the decision for surgery was made.
