Delhi will no longer host the upcoming one-day international between India and Sri Lanka scheduled for December 13, as stadium authorities have initiated a major overhaul of the playing surface. The venue is undergoing a transition to a modern sand-based drainage system, a modification that will render the ground unavailable for competitive fixtures until the 2027 edition of the Indian Premier League.
The renovation effort aims to eliminate standing water issues and reduce weather-related delays without requiring full-ground covers. Meanwhile, domestic red-ball matches for Delhi's team have been relocated to an alternative facility near the airport for the ongoing Ranji Trophy calendar.
