UFC leadership has expressed enthusiasm regarding the possibility of pairing active competitors Paddy Pimblett and Ilia Topuria as opposing mentors for a future installment of The Ultimate Fighter. While recent editions of the reality program have utilized retired athletes such as Michael Bisping and Daniel Cormier, promotion head Dana White acknowledged that utilizing current roster members for the coaching roles remains an appealing prospect.
Any potential matchup between the two athletes arrives following a shifting landscape in the lightweight division. Pimblett previously encountered Justin Gaethje earlier in the year during a failed interim championship bout, after a scheduled meeting with Topuria had to be postponed due to personal matters.
Gaethje subsequently claimed the undisputed title by defeating Topuria, leaving both Pimblett and Topuria potentially free to square off next depending on scheduling and upcoming title pictures.
