Utah improved its record to 4-0 and started conference play at 1-0 following a 31-17 road triumph over Iowa State on Saturday afternoon. Devon Dampier powered the visitors early with a pair of touchdown passes, connecting with Wayshawn Parker on a 54-yard strike to open the contest and later finding Braden Pegan from 24 yards out.
A field goal by Dillon Curtis extended the lead before the home side finally broke through with a kick from Kyle Konrardy. Parker added another score just before the half to put the visitors comfortably ahead.
After the intermission, the Cyclones mounted a comeback effort behind a rushing touchdown from Jaylen Raynor and a 22-yard scoring reception by Dominic Overby, narrowing the gap to seven points in the final period. However, Parker sealed the outcome with his third touchdown of the day, a 13-yard catch, and Jackson Bennee subsequently intercepted a pass to halt any further threat.
The setback dropped the hosts to 2-2 overall and winless in conference play.
