D-backs' late, hard-fought push for postseason ends with Game 162

Arizona saw its late postseason bid officially extinguished on the final day of the regular season during Sunday afternoon action. While Philadelphia secured a 7-3 victory over Tampa Bay to seal the elimination, the Diamondbacks subsequently dropped a 9-4 decision to San Diego at the conclusion of their six-game surge.

That late push had featured a three-game sweep of Colorado alongside an earlier win against New York and probable American League Cy Young winner Cam Schlittler. Following a 10-7 setback the previous evening, the club required a win paired with a Phillies loss to force a wild card matchup in Atlanta, but the squad instead heads home for the offseason.
