Indiana’s 22-game winning streak came to an abrupt end in a heartbreaking loss to Ohio State, as a final-play miscue sealed the Buckeyes’ 19-15 victory in Bloomington. The Hoosiers, led by head coach Curt Cignetti, fought back into the game late in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to 19-15 after receiver Nick Marsh’s touchdown and a two-point conversion.
However, a fourth-down pass to Marsh fell incomplete when his left foot landed out of bounds, ending Indiana’s historic streak and their 19-game home winning run in a rematch of last year’s Big Ten Championship. Cignetti criticized his team’s execution, noting missed opportunities in the passing game despite outgaining Ohio State 369-313.
Quarterback Josh Hoover struggled with a shoulder issue, completing just 20 of 40 passes for 296 yards and one touchdown, while Indiana’s ground game managed only 73 rushing yards. The Hoosiers also went 0-for-2 on field-goal attempts and lost two fumbles, including Hoover’s first turnover of the season, as Ohio State’s defense held firm in the final minutes.
