Could Tim Settle be vital to stopping Saquon Barkley, Eagles in Week 1?

Ahead of a season-opening divisional clash on September 13, defensive tackle Tim Settle could serve as a crucial factor in slowing down dynamic running back Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles. Washington's defense faces a formidable challenge against a Philadelphia roster seeking redemption following an arduous 2025 campaign that still concluded with a postseason appearance.

Beyond Barkley, the Commanders will also have to contend with dual-threat quarterback Jalen Hurts and defensive standout Jalen Carter, while hoping to exploit Philadelphia's revamped receiving corps and safeguard their own susceptible secondary.

Offensively, Washington plans to counter behind quarterback Jayden Daniels, whose versatility anchors an unpredictable scheme guided by fresh coordinators Daronte Jones and David Blough. The Commanders also received positive roster updates heading into the opener, officially securing clearance for Jacory Croskey-Merritt, K'Lavon Chaisson, and Odafe Oweh to take the field on Sunday.
