Costelow kick seals Scarlets' first league win

The Scarlets ended their winless start to the United Rugby Championship with a dramatic 27-26 victory over Benetton, their first league win of the season. Sam Costelow’s late penalty in the 78th minute sealed the victory, turning a 21-7 half-time deficit into a hard-fought triumph.

The Welsh side rallied after an early try from Sam Lousi, with Ellis Mee and Blair Murray adding crucial tries in the second half to keep Benetton at bay. Despite early setbacks, including tries from Siua Maile, Onisi Ratave, and Louis Lynagh, Scarlets’ late momentum shifted the momentum decisively.

The introduction of Fletcher Anderson and Gareth Davies proved pivotal, while Costelow’s accuracy under pressure ensured the decisive points. Both teams entered the match winless, with Scarlets recovering from defeats in Welsh derbies and Benetton struggling in their opening fixtures.
