Commanders DC Daronte Jones needs to be busy in the bye week to figure out what’s ailing his defense - Daily Slop

Washington enters its bye week at 1-4-1 with significant defensive concerns to address. Analytics indicate the team ranks last in the league for first-down success rate, allowing opponents to gain favorable yardage on nearly half of their initial plays.

Defensive coordinator Daronte Jones must prioritize tightening these early-down sequences to force more manageable situations for his unit.

Offensively, the team faces a transition following the loss of Terry McLaurin for the remainder of the season. With 13 days until a rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles, the coaching staff has a window to adjust their receiving rotation and prepare for quarterback Tanner McKee.

The team will monitor Philadelphia's upcoming performance against Dallas to gather further intelligence before returning to the field on November 1.
