Colts lead as Commanders' offense sputters behind third-string QB Athan Kaliakmanis

Washington is currently playing without its top two quarterbacks as the team battles the Indianapolis Colts. Starter Jayden Daniels is unavailable due to an elbow issue, and backup Marcus Mariota left the ongoing matchup because of a knee problem.

This leaves rookie signal-caller Athan Kaliakmanis running the attack under difficult circumstances, which include frequent pass-protection failures from his line.

At the midway point of the contest, Indianapolis holds a narrow 10-6 advantage. The Colts' attack has struggled as well under starting quarterback Daniel Jones, though the team managed a single scoring march featuring a rushing touchdown by Jonathan Taylor.

That crucial sequence was extended by a controversial unnecessary roughness penalty assessed against Washington defender Amik Robertson.
