Shapath Bharadwaj discovered his fascination with target sports at the age of nine after observing his older sibling practice. His father, S Raju, backed the ambition by having a local craftsman fashion a wooden replica firearm so the boy could practice dry drills at home.
To accommodate his training schedule, the academic high achiever regularly commuted four times weekly from Meerut to the venue in a compact vehicle, completing his studies in the back seat. That early dedication has now culminated in a selection for the Indian contingent competing in trap events at the continental multisport competition.
