Legendary broadcaster Charley Steiner, the voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers since 2005, has called his return to a full nine-inning game the most meaningful moment of his career. Diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2024, Steiner paused his announcing duties to focus on treatment, with his cancer entering remission by October of that year.
His comeback has been gradual, starting with partial innings before building up to a complete game in August, where his sharp wit—including a playful jab at starter Justin Wrobleski—showcased his signature style. Since then, Steiner has called 10 full regular-season games and several playoff contests, proving his resilience and passion for the role he’s held since childhood.
At 77, he remains the Dodgers’ iconic play-by-play voice, fulfilling a lifelong dream while inspiring fans with his perseverance through adversity.
