Can Anyone Play Defense Anymore?

The Edmonton Oilers secured three out of four possible points to open their campaign following a 9-7 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday, which followed a 6-5 overtime defeat to the same opponent on Tuesday. Edmonton built an 8-2 advantage before a massive Vancouver comeback trimmed the gap to two goals in the third period.

Oilers coach expressed frustration over the defensive lapses during the collapse, while Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl helped seal the wild win despite missing several teammates due to absences.
