Caitlin Clark’s agency handed key role in search for next WNBA commissioner

The search for a successor to retiring WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert is officially underway as the NBA taps Excel Search and Advisory to head the recruitment process. Adam Silver will retain final approval over the appointment, which aims to secure a leader for the organization as it approaches expansion by 2030.

Potential candidates ranging from internal executives and collegiate athletic directors to prominent basketball figures have been circulating in league circles. Excel, known for representing prominent players such as Caitlin Clark, brings established ties to the league following previous club-level sponsorship work.
