The Milwaukee Bucks have initiated roster cuts ahead of the October 19 deadline, requesting waivers for three players: veteran forward Pete Nance, rookie guard Johni Broome, and center Jake Stephens. Nance, a 27-year-old fan favorite known for his clutch playmaking and stretch-four versatility, averaged 5.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game last season while appearing in a career-high 47 contests, including six starts.
His standout performance—a 23-point, 5-of-9 three-point outburst against the Houston Rockets in April—highlighted his value as a reliable third-string big, but his non-guaranteed contract made him an easy target for cuts amid the team’s crowded roster. Broome, who signed a training camp deal in early October, never secured a spot in the preseason lineup, appearing in just one exhibition game with four points and three rebounds.
Stephens, a 7-foot center, also failed to impress in limited preseason action, averaging 1.5 points and 1.0 rebound over two games in 5.3 minutes per contest. With 16 players currently on standard contracts, the Bucks must still trim one more spot—or execute a two-for-one trade—before the season opener to meet league requirements.
