Brent Venables admits Oklahoma is 'embarrassing.' So was his contract extension

Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables labeled his team's performance as embarrassing following a 42-25 defeat against South Carolina. The loss highlights the struggles of a program that recently committed to a significant contract extension for Venables, a move that now appears questionable given the team's 4-4 record and the high cost of a potential buyout exceeding $51 million.

While Venables faces scrutiny, South Carolina coach Shane Beamer has successfully stabilized his own position after rallying his squad. With the Sooners trending toward a losing season, the focus shifts to potential staff changes and the need for a new offensive direction.
