ESPN FPI Rankings Deliver Major Shakeup for LSU Ahead of Alabama Showdown

LSU has climbed to fifth in the latest ESPN Football Power Index, narrowly surpassing Alabama ahead of their upcoming matchup. While the Tigers hold a 24.7 rating compared to the Crimson Tide's 24.5, Alabama maintains a higher statistical probability of securing a College Football Playoff berth at 60.3 percent versus LSU's 48.8 percent.

Both programs currently hold 6-2 records as they prepare for a critical SEC contest. The updated rankings place LSU behind Georgia as the second-highest rated team in the conference.
