The Atlanta Braves’ minor-league affiliate, the Glendale Desert Dogs, fell to a 4–3 loss to the Surprise Saguaros in a Spring Breakout game, extending their record to 1–6. The defeat came after a late rally by the Saguaros, but the game marked a significant return for Braves prospect Tate Southisene, who had been sidelined since late July after an injury to his hand and wrist.
Southisene, playing shortstop, went 0-for-2 with a walk in his first game back, facing five pitches in his first at-bat before lining out to right field at 96 mph. His second appearance ended with a groundout, while his third saw him draw a walk after fouling off multiple pitches near the zone.
Meanwhile, Isaiah Drake provided the Desert Dogs’ lone RBI, driving in Dillon Lewis with a sharp single in the fourth inning after fouling off two inside pitches. Owen Carey, another Braves prospect, reached base via hit-by-pitch in the seventh, contributing to the team’s late run.
On the mound, relievers Owen Hackman, Logan Samuels, and Tanner Bauman combined for 4.2 innings, allowing five runs across three frames of work.
