The Atlanta Braves have quietly expanded their 40-man roster by adding veteran outfielder Brett Wisely, a move that comes alongside the outright assignment of DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Wisely, who spent the entire 2026 season with Gwinnett after going uncalled up during the regular season, posted a strong offensive line with a .281 batting average, .399 on-base percentage, and 11 home runs while playing 125 games. Despite his Triple-A success—including a 127 wRC+—Wisely has struggled to translate that production at the MLB level, appearing in just four games and nine plate appearances for the Braves in 2025.
The roster addition appears to be a strategic maneuver, locking in Wisely’s rights and preventing him from electing free agency while keeping the team’s flexibility intact for potential future trades or roster adjustments. The Braves have made similar moves recently, including selecting Danny Young’s contract last week, signaling a pattern of offseason roster management ahead of the 2027 season.
