The New York Yankees’ offseason is shaping up to be a critical period amid growing uncertainty over a potential MLB lockout. Key dates have been set for awards ceremonies, free agency milestones, and team meetings, though disruptions are likely as negotiations between the league and players’ association intensify.
Free agents will officially hit the market immediately after the World Series ends, with a five-day waiting period before they can sign. Five days later, teams must decide on qualifying offers—set at $23.15 million—for eligible players like Jazz Chisholm Jr.
and David Bednar, while the injured list reinstatement deadline also closes. The Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Award winners will be announced in early November, alongside the Hall of Fame’s Contemporary Baseball Era ballot and the Rookie and Manager of the Year honors.
Meanwhile, the GM Meetings, originally scheduled for November 9–13, could face alterations if the lockout delays or cancels events like the Winter Meetings or draft lottery. Cam Schlittler, the Yankees’ standout pitcher, remains a frontrunner for the Cy Young Award, though the broader season may hinge on whether a labor agreement is reached in time to preserve the 2027 campaign.
