Ohio State wideout Jeremiah Smith faces a major test this Saturday when the Buckeyes host the No. 5-ranked Indiana Hoosiers in a rematch of last season’s Big Ten Championship.
Smith dominated Indiana’s defense in their 2025 title game, posting eight catches for 144 yards and 18.0 yards per reception—his fifth 100-yard game of the year—though Ohio State fell 13-10 in a late missed field goal. The Hoosiers, who have won 22 straight games, will look to extend their streak against a Buckeye offense led by Smith, who has already set career highs this season with 48 receptions for 916 yards (19.1 YPC) and 11 touchdowns, both Big Ten and national leaders.
Smith’s production has been elite, including back-to-back 200-yard games and a three-year career total of 3,474 receiving yards, putting him on pace to break Big Ten records for receptions and receiving touchdowns. Indiana’s defensive coordinator, Bryant Haines, will need to contain Smith after the Buckeyes outgained the Hoosiers 316-151 in their 2024 meeting, though Smith’s role was limited to three catches for 34 yards in that win.
With both teams entering the matchup undefeated in conference play, Smith’s ability to exploit Indiana’s defense could decide the game for Ohio State.
