Newly acquired forward Brandon Ingram will miss the start of the season for his new franchise after evaluations revealed a partial tear in his left Achilles tendon. The issue came to light following a surgical procedure in May to address a separate heel concern.
Team officials disclosed the medical update during the organization's media day event. The standard rehabilitation window for this specific ailment spans roughly half a year, which could clear the twenty-nine-year-old athlete to return to the court around late October or November pending no setbacks.
The roster addition arrived via a transaction with the Toronto Raptors that also involved Kawhi Leonard, though the deal faced a prolonged delay of over a month while inquiries regarding salary cap compliance were resolved. During the prior campaign with his former club, the forward appeared in seventy-seven regular season contests and posted per-game averages of 21.5 points, 5.6 boards, and 3.7 assists.
However, the underlying heel issue severely limited his availability during a postseason series against Cleveland, forcing him to exit early in a pivotal fifth matchup and sit out the final two contests as his team was eliminated. The franchise is scheduled to tip off its regular season schedule at home against Sacramento.
