The Big Ten conference acknowledged a significant officiating error during Oregon's 17-15 defeat to UCLA. With just over two minutes remaining, officials incorrectly placed the ball following a facemask penalty on a two-point conversion attempt.
While the referee announced the correct procedure, the crew ultimately spotted the ball based on the original line of scrimmage rather than the spot of the foul. This misapplication of the rules left quarterback Brock Thomas and the Ducks further from the goal line than they should have been for their final attempt, which failed to reach the end zone.
