The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has intervened in Arunachal Pradesh’s domestic cricket crisis by establishing an independent selection panel to resolve ongoing administrative disputes and prevent further forfeitures. The state’s men’s and women’s teams—including senior and age-group squads—have struggled due to a leadership dispute following Nabam Vivek’s election as president in September 2026, which was challenged in court.
The legal uncertainty left the Arunachal Cricket Association (ACA) unable to make key decisions, leading to forfeits in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group (against Nagaland in Ahmedabad), the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, and the Under-19 Women’s T20 Trophy. The BCCI, initially hesitant to act while the case was pending, has now appointed a three-member panel led by former Assam cricketer Satya Gopal Chakraborty to conduct merit-based trials for the Ranji Trophy, Col.
C.K. Nayudu Trophy, Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, and Vijay Merchant Trophy.
The panel, including Jayanta Chowdhury and Deep Bora, will oversee selections while the BCCI advertises trials in regional newspapers to ensure transparency and minimize local interference. Support staff appointments are expected by midweek, allowing teams to prepare before resuming their domestic campaigns.
