Back-to-backs, holding Jayson Tatum out of Game 7, and sports science

Early season injuries across the league have brought player load management under heavy scrutiny. During a recent matchup against the Brooklyn Nets at TD Garden, the coaching staff opted against resting their veteran players on the second night of a back-to-back.

Jayson Tatum carried a massive workload, logging 42 minutes on the floor and scoring 40 points to secure a 125-124 overtime victory. Head coach Joe Mazzulla acknowledged that the team relies heavily on its sports science department when navigating these demanding scheduling situations.
