Award-winner to fourth choice - what has gone wrong for Ramsdale?

Aaron Ramsdale experienced a sharp decline from starring for Arsenal to enduring a difficult spell with Southampton. After arriving at Arsenal for twenty-four million pounds in August 2021, he helped secure a fifth-place finish and earned individual accolades during a subsequent title push.

However, he soon lost his starting position to David Raya following the arrival of new competition and committed a costly error against Brentford in March 2024 before making his final appearance for the club. A subsequent twenty-five million pound transfer to Southampton ahead of the 2024-25 campaign also proved tumultuous, as the team finished at the bottom of the table with a mere twelve points and suffered a record third relegation of his career.
