Austin Reaves is putting up historic numbers for the Los Angeles Lakers, boasting a 63.2% true shooting percentage, the highest ever for an NBA guard, surpassing Steph Curry's 62.6%. In the first three games of the current campaign, he has recorded an 82% true shooting percentage and is averaging 26.7 points, 6.3 assists, 63.9% from the field, and 61.5% from beyond the arc, all of which are career highs.
Reaves, who was previously undrafted, signed a four-year, $180 million contract this summer, the most expensive deal for any undrafted player in league history. He has helped the Lakers open the season 3-0, earning praise from coach JJ Redick, who called him "Mr.
Consistency," and teammate Luka Doncic, who specifically requested to play with him and lauded his incredible efficiency.
