Auburn secured a major boost in the latest national re-rankings following a successful conference matchup against Vanderbilt. The Tigers climbed fourteen positions to reach the thirtieth spot in the updated list published by USA TODAY, which was put together by Paul Myerberg.
This positive shift follows a milestone victory that broke a lengthy conference home losing streak stretching back nearly two years, as well as ending a September SEC drought that persisted since the 2022 campaign. Several other programs also saw notable movement in the standings, with Stanford making the largest jump by rising twenty-four spots after defeating Georgia Tech, while Georgia took over the top ranking following a strong performance against Oklahoma.
Looking ahead, Auburn prepares for an upcoming contest against Tennessee on Saturday afternoon broadcasted nationally on ESPN. The Volunteers enter this weekend positioned eighteenth in the re-rankings, having slipped slightly after a narrow defeat against Texas.
Meanwhile, the defeated Vanderbilt squad slid six positions down to fortieth overall in the updated standings. Other teams experiencing double-digit upward movement include Florida and Mississippi State, both advancing eleven spots to land at sixth and sixteenth respectively.
