India reached twenty total medals at the Nagoya games on Friday after Manush Shah and Diya Chitale secured a bronze in table tennis mixed doubles. The pair fell in their semifinal match to Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha in four straight games.
This achievement marks only the second time an Indian duo has earned a podium finish in this specific discipline at the continental competition, following the previous success by Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra at Jakarta in 2018.
Maintaining a dedicated partnership since late 2023, the left-handed Manush and right-handed Diya blend their contrasting skills effectively on the court. Manush utilizes powerful strokes from both wings while Diya sets up scoring chances.
Backed by the Olympic Gold Quest, the duo now aims to carry their momentum toward the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
