Inclement weather has caused all four men's quarterfinal matches at the Asian Games cricket tournament to be abandoned. Following the washouts of their respective fixtures against Malaysia and Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka advanced to the next round based on their higher tournament rankings.
India and Afghanistan as well as Pakistan and Hong Kong previously saw their elimination games decided under the same weather-related rule. The upcoming semifinal fixtures will now feature India taking on Sri Lanka, while Pakistan squares off against Bangladesh on Thursday, October 1.
Organizers noted that if further weather disruptions occur during these matches, higher-ranked teams will progress, and a washed-out final would result in a shared gold medal.
