Arsenal's winning start ended by brilliant Brighton

Brighton delivered a comprehensive 3-0 upset against Arsenal to halt Mikel Arteta's bid for an eighth consecutive win, which would have marked the north London club's finest campaign opening in 123 years. Fabian Hurzeler's squad controlled the contest early, breaking through in the 30th minute when Pascal Gross curled in a strike from distance.

Moments after Bart Verbruggen denied Bukayo Saka on Arsenal's first clear chance just before the interval, Charalampos Kostoulas immediately countered to double Brighton's advantage with another long-range drive.

Chema Andres sealed the rout nine minutes into the second half by heading home Gross' corner kick to register his maiden goal for the club. The hosts nearly extended their margin through subsequent efforts from Pascal Struijk, Matt O'Riley, and Malick Yalcouye, while David Raya was repeatedly tested in the visitors' net.

The triumph lifts Brighton to third place in the Premier League table, trailing Arsenal by just two points.
