Another Big Ten team to pause its longstanding series with Notre Dame

Purdue has officially suspended its football series with Notre Dame, ending a long-standing tradition that dates back to 1896. The decision follows a lopsided 49-10 defeat for the Boilermakers earlier this season, and the move effectively cancels a planned 2027 matchup that was slated for Labor Day weekend.

Purdue has since updated its future non-conference slate to include West Virginia as a replacement opponent. While the series has spanned 90 games with the Irish holding a 60-26-2 advantage, Purdue leadership noted that the rivalry may be reconsidered for future scheduling at a later date.
