During the fifth game of the 2026 WNBA Finals on Monday evening, Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese wore a pregame warmup t-shirt bearing the message Protect Black Women. The Golden State Valkyries managed to secure a victory to take a 3-2 series lead, pushing the Dream to the brink of elimination following two consecutive defeats.

Following the contest, Reese and head coach Karl Smesko both criticized the officiating crew, with Reese expressing frustration over physical contact going unpenalized.
