Chicago Cubs third baseman Alex Bregman made a triumphant return to form on Sunday, Sept. 27 at Tropicana Field by launching two home runs just a week after suffering facial fractures.
The thirty-two-year-old infielder was injured during a game in Cincinnati on Sept. 20 when a foul ball struck him near his left eye, but he avoided the injured list, missing only three games before returning to action with protective gear.
Following a hitless return as a designated hitter in Boston, Bregman connected for a 417-foot shot off Tanner Houck and added a 402-foot blast two innings later, while also collecting a single in the fifth. With his power display lifting his season totals to 26 home runs, 32 doubles, 89 RBIs, and a .799 OPS across 154 games, Bregman and the Cubs now prepare to travel to San Diego for an upcoming National League wild card matchup against the Padres.
