Alabama vs. Mississippi State: Winners & Losers as Crimson Tide Quiet Kamario Taylor Hype in Week 5

During a marquee SEC conference matchup in Week 5 of the 2026 college football season, the Alabama Crimson Tide secured a dominant victory against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer navigated his initial major ranked test of the campaign as his squad silenced the massive national hype surrounding opposing quarterback Kamario Taylor.

Quarterback Keelon Russell paced the Alabama offensive attack with an extremely efficient performance, completing 16 of 22 pass attempts for 285 yards and three touchdowns while adding another score on the ground. Meanwhile, the aggressive Alabama defense continually harassed Taylor, recording five sacks and forcing two interceptions alongside a fumble before a lower-leg injury eventually knocked the opposing sophomore out of the contest during the final quarter.
