Ajinkya Rahane has praised the decision to move 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to the opening slot for the third T20I against New Zealand. After batting at number three in the previous match, the teenager partnered with Abhishek Sharma to help India chase down a 199-run target with a six-wicket victory and 40 balls remaining.
The pair combined for a 133-run opening stand, with Sooryavanshi falling just five runs short of a half-century. Rahane noted that the management correctly identified the youngster's preference for an aggressive, attacking role at the top of the order.
With Ishan Kishan unavailable, Sanju Samson moved to the number three position to accommodate the change.
