Ahmed leads Gloucs recovery against Middlesex

Middlesex finished their opening turn at 326 after Somerset loanee JT Langridge bowled Dan Ferns to claim final figures of 3-82, stranding Toby Roland-Jones on 45 not out. In response, Gloucestershire's top order collapsed from 79-1 to 128-7, with Sebastian Morgan removing Joe Phillips for 23, Kamran Dhariwal without scoring, and Ed Middleton for another duck.

Ryan Higgins tore through the lineup with 3-16, clean bowling Ollie Price for 15 and Tommy Boorman for 32, while also dismissing Miles Hammond for a duck.

A dramatic eighth-wicket partnership of 144 altered the course of the match as Daz Ahmed and Sai Kishore rescued Gloucestershire, eventually pushing their total to 296 and avoiding the follow-on. Ahmed struck an unbeaten 90 featuring six boundaries and three maximums, while Kishore added 71 with seven sixes before Luke Hollman wrapped up the innings with 3-36.

By stumps on day two, Middlesex had reached 17 without loss, extending their overall cushion to 47 runs.
