Ahead of the second fixture against West Indies, analyst Aakash Chopra suggested that India alter their lineup by omitting Naman Dhir in favor of pace bowler Mohammed Siraj. Chopra highlighted that anticipated moisture at the venue could diminish the effectiveness of part-time options, making a specialist fast bowler necessary.
During the opening match in Thiruvananthapuram, Dhir had contributed five wicketless overs and did not bat as the squad secured an eight-wicket victory while chasing down their target.
Chopra emphasized that because Dhir is not currently considered part of the future plans for the upcoming global tournament, prioritizing bowling strength is the more logical choice. With potential wet conditions under the lights in Guwahati, the former cricketer believes that relying on full-fledged pacers rather than maintaining extra batting depth is vital.
Siraj has not featured in an ODI since his appearance against New Zealand earlier in January 2026.
