The Milwaukee Brewers kicked off their National League Championship Series rematch against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a hard-fought 2-1 victory in Game 1 on Sunday night. The Brewers' starting pitcher, Jacob Misiorowski, struggled early, exiting after just 4 1/3 innings while allowing one run on five hits, three walks, and striking out five batters.
Despite the rocky start, the Brewers' bullpen stepped up, with DL Hall, Abner Uribe, Aaron Ashby, and Trevor Megill combining for 4 2/3 scoreless innings, securing the win. Megill closed out the game with a ninth-inning performance that included two walks but earned him the save.
Former Yankees captain Derek Jeter noted the Brewers' resilience in low-scoring games, a trait that has defined their season. Meanwhile, Alex Rodriguez highlighted the series' shift from last year’s underdog narrative, now featuring two evenly matched teams.
Rodriguez also warned that relying heavily on the bullpen for outs in a seven-game series could prove unsustainable, as both teams' starters failed to reach the fifth inning. Game 2 of the NLCS will resume on Monday at American Family Field, with coverage set to begin at 4 p.m.
ET on FOX.
