Oregon fell out of the AP Top 25 for the first time in four years after a 17‑15 defeat to UCLA, dropping to 3‑2 on the season. Starting quarterback Dante Moore missed the game with a concussion and freshman Dylan Raiola took over, completing six of 19 passes for 43 yards and throwing two interceptions while also losing a fumble.
The Ducks turned the ball over seven times, including five lost fumbles and the two picks, and managed just one conversion on twelve third‑down attempts. Senior Brock Thomas entered in the fourth quarter, completing 11 of 15 throws for 156 yards and delivering a 44‑yard touchdown pass to Evan Stewart that brought Oregon within two points, though the two‑point try failed after Jordon Davison’s earlier score.
Coach Dan Lanning said the quarterback change could have come sooner, took responsibility for the two‑point decision, and indicated that offensive strategy and play‑calling will be reviewed moving forward.
