The Vancouver Canucks have fully unwound the trade that sent Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders in January 2023, as the final piece of the deal—defenseman Aatu Räty—was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in October. In exchange, Vancouver acquired forwards Jacob Quillan and Brandon Buhr, but both players have since moved on to other teams.
The original trade package included Räty, a 2023 first-round pick, and forward Anthony Beauvillier, none of whom remain with the Canucks today. The first-round pick, paired with a second-rounder, was used to acquire Filip Hronek and a fourth-round selection from Detroit, who drafted Axel Sandin-Pellikka with it.
Vancouver’s fourth-round pick went to Ty Mueller, now a key player in their AHL affiliate’s forward group, while Sandin-Pellikka has established himself in Detroit’s lineup with 21 points in his rookie season. Meanwhile, Beauvillier was dealt to the Chicago Blackhawks midseason for a 2024 fifth-round pick, which later bounced through multiple trades before being used to select Joel Svensson.
Beauvillier himself was flipped twice more, ultimately landing with the Washington Capitals on a one-year deal after a brief stint in Nashville.
