The Dallas Mavericks fell 128-110 to the Houston Rockets in their season‑opening game on Oct. 21, 2026, played at Houston’s Toyota Center.
Dallas showed promise early, with P.J. Washington draining a three‑pointer, Cooper Flagg hitting his own long shot and Max Christie adding a tough bucket, and the team finished the first quarter 6‑of‑13 from beyond the arc.
Houston seized control in the second period, piling up 38 points while Dallas managed just four field goals and missed 21 straight threes, leaving the Rockets with a 70‑38 halftime lead after shooting 59.5% compared with the Mavericks’ 33.3%. Although Flagg sparked a post‑break surge, scoring inside, mid‑range and from the line, and Kyrie Irving and Marcus Sasser added some offense, Dallas entered the fourth quarter down 100‑76 and could not close the gap.
