New Zealand finally secured a victory in the ongoing series during the fourth Twenty20 International by defeating India by 87 runs at Eden Park. Electing to field first, the visiting side initially made early inroads through Mayank Yadav before Glenn Phillips and Michael Bracewell launched a devastating counter-attack that propelled the hosts to a massive total of 259 runs for the loss of seven wickets.
In response, the Indian batting lineup collapsed under the pressure of the steep target, managing only 172 runs before being bowled out in twenty overs as Tilak Varma top-scored with 35. Following the heavy defeat, captain Shreyas Iyer pointed out that his bowling unit failed to execute their plans effectively during the powerplay, while offering high praise for Phillips and his match-winning century.
