Former leader of the Buckeyes Urban Meyer expressed skepticism regarding his former squad prior to their matchup with the Trojans, noting their recent performances have appeared underwhelming. During a podcast discussion on October 29, he highlighted wide receiver Jeremiah Smith as a standout talent while cautioning that ball security will dictate whether the visitor can secure a victory on the road.

The visiting squad carries a six-win and one-loss record into the fixture but must navigate roster adjustments after losing quarterback Julian Sayin to a right arm injury against the Hoosiers. Coach Ryan Day has yet to publicly designate a definitive starter between alternatives Luke Fahey and Tavien St.

Clair to pilot the offense. Meanwhile, the host program sits at six wins and two losses following a twenty-four to seven defeat against Wisconsin where quarterback Jayden Maiava suffered five sacks and tossed two interceptions.

Despite offensive uncertainties on both sides, the visiting program features a stout defense permitting merely 13.4 points per contest to bolster their chances.
